“The heart cannot love what the mind does not know…if we want to feel deeply about God, wemust learn to think deeply about God…We must make a study of our God: what he loves, what he hates, how he speaks and acts. We cannot imitate a God whose features and habits we have never learned. We must make a study of him if we want to become like him. We must seek his face.”

-JEN WILKIN

Part of the church’s role in discipleship and Christian formation is equipping the mind so that it can lead the heart. As we work toward deeper affections for God, we must learn more about him—his nature, his character, and his work in the world through Jesus. Risen Church Institute exists for that purpose: to equip the mind for the sake of leading the heart.

The Institute program consists of various classes and seminars, offered at different times throughout the calendar year.

The Mission

Our spring session of Risen Institute happens over 8 weeks from March 23-May 18 (no classes on April 20 for Easter Sunday), on Sundays from 4:30-6:00pm at Risen Church North.

This 8-week class will study the book of Isaiah by analyzing its message, design, and literary structure. It will also provide instruction on how to read and understand biblical prophecy, especially in the ways Isaiah predicts the coming kingdom of Jesus. The hope for this class is that as we immerse ourselves in the message of Isaiah, we will hear God’s word with greater clarity, and we will treasure Jesus more deeply.

You can see the full syllabus HERE. Every registered student will receive a copy of the course textbook.

Childcare will be provided for babies/toddlers through 5th grade. We are asking that each family unit in need of childcare pay $25 to help offset the cost of childcare. The $25 covers the entire 8-week class for all children in a family. Scholarships are available. Please do not hesitate to let us know if this fee is a financial barrier for you attending.

We'd love to have you join us!
